thanks for the info Bill and Isaac, this seems a lot more reasonable than the 60+ hours a week i've heard from other sources

I think my firm considers itself to support a more balanced "lifestyle"  It may be atypical.  In any event I expect that with my current workload I'll end up significantly more than 1900 billed hours.

During certain periods, such as a pending litigation, you could easily work 60+ hours a week.  That is, the hours requirement aren't necessarily distributed evenly.  But of course other circumstances can differ.
