In order to compare salaries, it may be need to factor in that those with PhDs often get the benefit of having the law firm pay for their law degree.

Well, you also have to consider how fun it is to spend 4 years going to law school at night while working your ass off during the day.

I have an MSEE = 6 years of IT industry experience.
Thinking of a career change and wanted to have a look at the IP law field.
 
The issue is that my hearing is seriously impaired; so many people are suggesting that in this field verbal communication skills are key.
 
So what is he take of those who are already in this field?
