Patent Engineer Job

I have M.S in Mechanical Engg degree and I have been working for a big automobile company for last 1 and 1/2 years. I am trying to relocate to DC area and I got this Patent Engineer job with a small company (provides patent services) with some highly educated patent engineers.
The guy whom I talked to told me that I'll be doing Patent Researching (while training on patent law related stuff) for a couple of years and then move into patent prosecution stuff. I am just wondering whether I should make a move here. Is doing patent researching (or searching) for a couple of year boring?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jawle.
