I have a JD from a 2nd tier school, middle of the class, and qualify for the USPTO with 40 hrs. of science, but no science degree. I am also a member of a state bar. How hard will it be to find a job? Thanks!

It is possible, but if your goal is prosecution, it will be difficult. You didn't specify whether you wanted to do prosecution or litigation, but your best bet would be to sell yourself as a patent litigator (maybe inquire about the possibility of doing prosecution on the side, but don't make it sound like a big factor) and then try and pick up some prosecution after you get the job.  During the '01 boom I managed to get a patent prosecution position with 40 hrs of bio/chem classes, but times were good and I was coming from a top 10 school and was in the top third.
