I got my first position by simply responding to an add on MonsterBoard.  (btw, I'm not affiliated with them, just telling you how it worked out for me).  I realize now how lucky I was.  But, there are patent agent jobs posted online, I've seen them also at Yahoo's HotJobs (again, i'm not associated with them).

To be honest, in my experience the physics background is not the most sought-after.  On the other hand, if your physics background is in an area such as optics or microelectronics, then you are in good shape.  In other words, you should be a bit more specific I think as to what areas of physics you have experience with.  Also, it's possible that your computer-science experience will be more attractive to a potential employer, so keep that visible.

Good luck to you.

Oh, regarding salary.  Anywhere from 60k-90k depending on where you are, whether you work for a law firm or go in-house, and your level of education, among other things.
