Does anyone know if Patent Examiners that get RE-HIRED by the USPTO are eligible for these bonuses listed on their website:

Recruitment Incentive
Electrical and Computer Engineers may be eligible to receive a recruitment incentive of up to $9,900 per year for a maximum of four years. A service agreement will be required. Incentive amount and duration is determined by title and grade level.

I believe if you have a break from federal service for at least 90 days you are eligible to receive these bonuses because then you will be classified as "newly appointed".

A friend of mine and I were both given these recruitment incentives in our original offer, but then later when they realized we were currently federal employees they found out that they had to take back the bonus part of our offers.  It was pretty disappointing.  They don't say anything about it on their website but if you PM me with your email address I can send you some official documentation that talks about their rules for giving the incentives.
