Ways to get experience

I am a PTO licensed attorney practicing outside the patent field with several years experience. My local market is mid-sized, but I've had no luck finding an entry-level prep/pros position (Firm, corporate, etc.) since I've been licensed (several years). For several reasons, relocation to Washington or a larger market isn't possible for me, but I could commute to another city for a part-time position (2 10hr. days, for example) or telecommute for part or all. Whether I get paid for the experience is immaterial at this point as long as I can get good training. (Solo practice or pro bono work isn't viable for at least several years yet either because of malpractice premiums.)
I'm out of ideas. Anybody have any suggestions on how I get experience?
