Can anyone provide some insight on the USPTO's Degree requirements? I have a Bachelors of Scienve from an Irish University in Mathematics and Mathematical Physics and a Master of Science in Engineering Sciences (Aerospace Engineering) from UC San Diego. Through both I have taken numerous physics type courses, such as solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, etc. However, the only course that was designated as 'Physics' was a first year course with less than 40 semester hours and no lab work. Does anybody know what my chances are? I have just finished 1L at UC Hastings and came to law school to be a patent lawyer. Any experiences, opinions, and best guesses are very welcome. Thanking everyone in advance.

To get a conclusive answer, it would be better to send in your application to the USPTO and have them evaluate your transcripts and eligibility.

Thanks BioPick. Should have mentioned this, but I am amassing scores of course descriptions as we speak. The reason I am interested in my chances is that to take the patent bar this summer, I will need to start studying for it right now. I don't want to lay down $1K+ if my chances of getting clearance aren't good. Thanks for the reply.

Don't forget you must also be a legal resident of the US to take the exam...
