They do give out certificates once you complete the registration process after passing - pay the registration fee and pass the period of public comment (your name is published in the OG to give the public a chance to offer up info as to why you should not be registered).

Thanks to all who replied.  If you are a patent agent when applying to sit for the Michigan Bar, they require 1) a certificate of good standing, and 2) a certified copy of your application to sit for the patent agent's exam.

To get a certificate of good standing and a certified copy of your application, you have to submit a privacy act request, pay $35, and write a letter asking for both items.  I couldn't find the privacy act information request form anywhere online, but Loren at OED faxed one over to me.  He can be reached through OED's main line.  I also used a credit card payment form for the $35.  I have electronic copies of both forms if anyone else needs them.

If anyone out there would like a copy of my letter, or a copy of the forms, please feel free to send me an email at justin at jjlc dot net.

Hello - I recently passed the patent bar and I'm now applying to my state bar.  The state bar would like a certified copy of my patent bar application and a letter that I'm a patent agent in good standing.  Does anyone know how I can obtain those documents?  I've left several messages with the OED over the past few weeks, but no luck yet.  Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

That sounds like a good reason to wait and take the patent exam after the state bar.  Another thing to consider is most law firms pay for patent exam study materials and any fees, etc.Smiley
