I'm currently a UG student studying EE. I want to get into Patent Law after I graduate for numerous reasons. Is it better to get a job with my BSEE after, work for 1-2 years, then apply? Would that help? Or is going straight to law school the best? I'm banking on a good GPA, but I can't tell yet. I'm only in my second year.

I would go straight to law school. During law school, you can be an intern in a lawfirm or other places to get some experience during summer vacation. You can take the Patent Bar anytime after you obtain your BS. I am not saying having some work exp before you go to law school is not a good idea. If there are two options, I will choose to go to law school straight mainly because I will be presented with more options sooner. Biopico

Tough call. I went into industry with the EE and worked on some really great projects and gained invaluable experience. Experience to the point of finding flaws in inventions that were conceived but not built. Without the practical experience, especially in software design, I would not be as quick at grasping invention concepts. Weighing the economics of salary for EE and Patent Attorneys, the scales may tip in favor of starting as a Patent Attroney as soon as possible. Starting pay delta could be in the 20K-30K range annually.
