Topic: Letter of good standing (Read 600 times) |

I just passed the patent bar on July 26. I got the letter from USPTO asking for the oath and $100 yesterday. The letter tells me that if I am an attorney (I am) and want to be listed as a patent attorney, I have to send them a letter of good standing from my state supreme court. The letter from USPTO does not say anything about how recent the letter of good standing must be. I have one from about 6 months ago. Is that sufficient or should I get a newer one?

Unless you want to call OED and ask, I'd recommend getting a new one. Generally speaking most states turn those things around very quickly.

I forget where but I distinctly remember it saying someplace it has to be less than 6 months old. I'll see if I can find where it states that.

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and requested another letter of good standing from my supreme court. I wanted to return the letter to the USPTO as soon as possible but I guess another couple of days is not going to hurt me.
