If you are trying to get a job at the PTO and you don't have an inside connection, you want to be at this job fair.   Come on up to the DC area for Memorial day weekend and stick around for the job fair.

No you cannot crash at my house.

Would it be too eary to interview at this job fair if I didn't want to start working up there until October or November of this year? What's the best (most interesting) mechanical group to work in?  thanks

I might drive up there June third for the information session and not interview this early.  I'm a current federal employee, veteran, and graduated w/3.6 gpa.  I'm fairly confident of at least one job offer closer to when I'd like to start work.

My main concerns are being 100% sure I want the job before commiting, and that I can survive living up there financially.  Once I commit to the job, it will only be with a plan to stay there and give it my best effort for at least 3-4 years, whether I like it or not.  I assume the info session will help.

"In addition to Interview Sessions, we will be conducting general Information Sessions every hour on the hour starting at 8:00 am. Information Sessions last approximately 45 minutes. You are strongly encouraged to attend one of the Information Sessions prior to your scheduled interview. These Sessions will provide you with valuable information that will enhance your interview experience. Information Sessions do not require pre-registration."

By the way, Memorial day is the 29th of May.  The earlier post got my hopes up for a few seconds.Sad

<<The USPTO will hold an on-site job fair in Alexandria on Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 3rd in the Jefferson Building.  The job fair is designed to help recruit patent examiners for FY 06.>>

When exactly does the FY start at the PTO?  I will be getting my master's degree in August and would like to start sometime in September or October.  I spoke to someone at the PTO earlier this year and she told me that I will be getting out at a good time because they're expecting a new class of examiners to be starting in October.  She also said that I'd probably be considered for next year (meaning next FY?  FY07?) because most examiners had already been hired for this year.  Does this sound right?

One question. I emailed the contact person today and was told that they have almost done with the recruiting for  FY06 and the next round will be in 6-8 wks. Could this Job fair really is for FY07?   Huh Huh Huh
