Indicating I will be a patent agent?

Having recently passed The Test, I want to start contacting law firms in search of work. The USPTO, in their letter, made clear to me that I am not yet a patent agent, and will not be until everyone decides that I actually am of sound moral character, all the paperwork is signed, yada yada yada. Question: Can I contact the law firms, indicating that I am seeking work as a patent agent, providing I specifically indicate: (i) I am seeking work as a patent agent, (ii) I am not a patent agent yet, (iii) I passed The Test, and (iv) I fully expect to be a patent agent in a relatively short time? Thanks! CJ

I was wondering how to put this on my resume too. I was thinking something along the lines of Test passed, registration # pending. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure what to call The Test either in that context. It may be best to call OED directly and ask how you should handle this.

You passed the patent exam, just indicate that as such. Unless you have something lurking in your closet and those who want to expose those skeletons know to monitor the gazette, your reg. no. will come thru with no impediments.

I remember wrestling with this question. I came up with some wording for my resume indicating that I had passed the registration exam. But it all seemed so pointless when a few weeks later I was updating my resume to indicate that I was fully registered.

I am scheduled to take the PTO exam on Dec 1. I will learn after submitting my results whether I passed. If I do pass the exam, how long will it take to become officially registered...assuming there are no problems? Thanks, DHH
