You've heard it all before but here I am a Newb with an idea.

I have had a "eureka" moment.
I have an idea, however, I don't know if I should copyright it, trademark it or patent it, I'm unclear on the differences.

My idea would be in household usage if it came into use and I am talking £££multi-million usage.

I can't find it on the market, I was wondering is there a place of ideas to check for it?

Please help
Ben

There are lots of patent agents and lawyers in this forum.  You might want to contact them in private to discuss your stuff in detail.

Ben,
In a nutshell, and in general, patents protect functional aspects, copyright protects expression (writing, graphical), and trademark indicates source of goods or services.
In addition to (or before) contacting a patent attorney (who can address the TM as well as the CR issues, in addition to the patent matters), I'd suggest you do some market research on your own.  You don't have to divulge your idea/invention to find out if there's something out there that solves the same problem.  Just because no one's thought of your idea, doesn't mean the problem isn't solved in a different way.
I, or many of the other qualified posters here would be happy to help.
