If I made public something I know that would drastically improve the sales of an existing product, which happens to be an implant procedure that many surgeons can perform and several manufacturers provide, would I be entitled to any of the resulting sales?

I don't see a way for you to make any money in the way you describe.

As a related issue, there is an exception in the patent statutes that prevents recovering for infringement based on a surgical technique.
