Hello, I was wondering. If I had an idea to improve an existing rpoduct, by changing the shape/design of it, but not actually the function of the product itself, could I patent this. Who would I contact, how do I go about getting my idea registered as mine?

The non-functional design of a product, that is, it's appearance, loosely speaking, may be protected by a design patent. To obtain such patent protection, you or your attorney would need to file a design patent application, complete with drawings of the design. - Jeff
