Shameless self-promotion?

I may have an announcement soon -- you know, the sort that typically goes out on 4x6 cards to all clients, associates, acquaintances, etc. Some announce a new member of the firm. Others announce a new address. That sort of thing.
I care about these forums and hope this continues to be a friendly place for people to "talk shop" and answer questions of the innovating public. In short, I don't want to start or further any trend toward shameless self-promotion.
My interpretation of the "Announcements" forum was that it is for that purpose -- or perhaps to announce things like CLE workshops, inventor workshops, seminars, etc. as well.
Would using the Announcements forum for such announcements (new firm members, new addresses, etc.) be considered unseemly?

I say if it's an IP related announcement (e.g., for new services, etc.), then it's ok. I don't know what the admin thinks, but I'm ok with it.
