Hmmm....  You can post here, so you can post.  There must be something in the message you're trying to post that appears to be off-limits for new users.

For what it's worth, using Notepad wasn't supposed to make your posts more acceptable to this forum but to prevent loss of work when you go "back".  If it didn't work for that, there must be something seriously wrong with your computer.

If it were me, I'd e-mail the post to the forum administrator and ask what's wrong with the message.  Either the administrator will be able to tell you or the administrator might recognize a bug in recent mods to quash the spam.

Regards.

Great idea...  (time passes... frustrated would-be user looks around... and around)
Here's another stupid question:  where might I be able to find the forum administrator's email address?  I looked through the "Help" section and didn't see it.  I realize it's probably right in front of me, but I can't find it.  And I appreciate that there might be something wrong with my computer, but this is really the only site I've had trouble on, and it doesn't seem like XP and Explorer is some kind of bizarre or unworthy combination.  Unless maybe the site is set up to penalize people who just use computers as a tool and don't care to learn the intricacies or to take a stand in computer politics...  Nah, that would never happen.

Okay--never mind.  I just found it on the Member list.  I'll ask if they might also want to put it on the Help page, for people who need help.

Look above at a post by "Forum Admin".  Below his user id is a little envelope icon.  Click on that.  Or, click on his user id ("Forum Admin") and there's probably a link to send him e-mail.

And, there's no gender bias here -- the Forum Admin is, in fact, male.

I don't believe this site is designed to punish anyone.  As we've discussed somewhere in here, this forum is a bit simple in that it doesn't save your form data and restore it when you have an error in your post.  It's not the only software to fail to do that; there was a time when no web-based forms did that.

In addition to this site being based on somewhat simple software, you're using a web browser that isn't designed to compensate for that -- e.g., by saving your form data and restoring it upon clicking "back".  Other browsers do that, so many of us don't miss the error trapping absent in this software.

I doubt there are any conspiracies against your particular set up -- there would be too small an audience leftover to give any site even just a remote chance of becoming sufficiently popular to be interesting.  People are aware of some of the shortcomings you're experiencing and, from what I understand, fixes are in the works.  But remember, a lot of this software is written, maintained, and administered by people with day jobs working in their spare time, often for free.  Frankly, I'm amazed that it all works as well as it does.

Just a quick note.  I don't know what Jeff and Mr. Admin experience here, but I'm killing about 1-2 spam messages per day here.  Some days, none.  Others, as many as 5 or more.  Today I killed one advertising software that automatically posts to forums -- image that!  I wonder what forums people would post to....  Wink

Thanks to Admin, they don't include links.  But they're showing up and they're annoying -- and they're gone.  My apologies to the Forums I don't monitor -- hopefully Jeff and Mr. Admin are keeping those clean.

Just wanted to let everyone know it's working....  manual cleaning, that is.

Regards.
