I am writing a manual that I would like fed. copyright protection for.  My manual is regarding a business practice.

My issue is that the manual has numerous citations to other sources, each which have their individual copyright notices attached.  Can I receive protection, despite citing to these sources, or do I have to get rid of them?

To me it seems just the same as writing a textbook that cites to other books, but I am just not sure.
