Is George Gershwin's music in the public domain?

Hello,
I am wondering if George Gershwin's music is in the public domain. More than 70 years are passed from his death, so I guess his music is in the public domain... but some publishing company claims still copyrights because they claim:

'The cut-off year for songs going into the public domain in the US is
still 1923. "Three Preludes" dates from 1927 and therefore is still
covered. Under current law, I believe this work will continue to be
protected in the US until at least 2022. '

That sounds weird to me... what do you think?

Thanks.

Fab.

Look here for a summary of copyright expiration dates.
