I want to do a remake of a movie that is in the public domain. A) Can I copyright my version? I want to use teh characters but change the plot a little B) Can i get a copyright in teh screenplay and the movie? Is this a derivative work - am I losing rights since it is based on a work in the public domain? C) What rights would I have in the remake. I want to distribute it. Thank you.
