I'm starting a small recording business, mainly working with public school organizations, church groups, and local artists, to record their performances and produce a few CD's to be given away, sold for a nominal donation, or distributed as demos for promotion of their work.  I want to be sure that I obtain the proper license to record and distribute these works.  Some pieces will be original works of the artist, some will contain prerecorded accompianments from CD's, some will utilize midi files which I will create myself from sheet music.  Where can I obtain specific information as to what the licensing requirements are?  Also, would I be entitled to register a copyright myself for the completed CD?  Thanks, Bill K.
