Licensing Films from Copyright Holders

Anybody here have any experience with this?

I'm an entrepreneur toying with the idea of starting a DVD label that focuses on out of print cult/cinephile films.

I am looking to find out what the typical procedure and estimated cost of securing a license might be as well as finding out what a standard royalty rate is for the copyright holders of said films.

In addition whatever fees may be associated with tracking down who the copyright holder of a particular film might be.

I am based in New York, but the company may be based in either Los Angeles or North Carolina.

Thanks

Darius
