Personal stories with popular music

I am a producer of videographies, (personal stories told informational style with pictures on DVD format) and would like to know if I need to obtain or pay copyright fees for music I use.  For example if I use a Frank Sinatra song??

These will be used soley for personal use.

Thanks for any help or advice.

If by "personal use" you mean you produce these videographies for paying customers who, in turn, use them only for personal use, then you've largely mischaracterized your use as "personal".  In that case, you'd need a license of some sort to use the recorded music.

If, on the other hand, you are producing these videos for your self alone (or maybe for family at no charge, etc.), then the question is likely moot.  Whether or not you'd need  license -- fair use may say no to that -- you'd wouldn't ever appear on anyone's copyright enforcement radar, so to speak.
