I am starting up a company called labrador clothing that sells t-shirts in the uk but there is a company in Japan called labrador retriever that also sells t-shirts. Is an infringement of copyright? Shall I continue? My website is and the other one is

Dear james eccleston,
Trademarks are locally registerable country by country.
There are international treaties that extend some priority to many countries. It is good business to start off carefully internationally. Japan is probably a memeber of the UCC.
They may even have jump on you, locally even though trademarks are national country by country. Remember ELAINE's Workshop® E arly L egal A dvice I s N ot E xpensive™ Reality Check®.
There are also problems, inherant with geographic marks.
