Web pages and IP rights

Hi,
I'm starting out on my Master Thesis in law and my plan is to write a piece on how web pages can be protected as an intellectual creation. I.e., protecting the (graphical) design of a page and, perhaps, also the values attached to it, such as goodwill etc.
To my knowledge, not much (anything?) has been written in the field, and I wonder, could any of you point me to any existing material? I'd also like to hear any spontaneous reactiions to writing a thesis on this subject.
