Process Patent

A company has a product that they have produced for years, they direct the user to place their material in a specific manner.  This technique does not work for our application.  We have experimented with cutting the material in a specific way and placing it in a completely different manner.

Is there a process application potential?

Maybe.  There's really not enough information here.  If your process is "new and non-obvious", then you can get a patent.  Whether it's worthwhile is an entirely different question.
