A business, with a registered ficticous name, purchases an internet domain with that same name. I assume everything is legal in doing this. My concern lies in purchasing other domains to be used as redirects to the original site. If my registered name was let's say "Bob's Pancakes" and I wanted to register "pancakes.com" as a redirect to "bobspancakes.com", would I run into any legality issues? Or would it just be a wise move to register all of the redirects as ficticous names belonging to the original business as well?

Dear Mr. Linner, I don't understand the need for ficticious, names. The law as I understand it tries to keep one from hiding identity to cover up for misdeeds.

In Pennsylvania, if the business you register doesn't have your last name and the service you provide immediately following your last name, then it's required that you register what they call a ficticous name. Nothing to do with misdeeds, just law as I understand it in PA.

Dear Mr. Linner, The law doesn't prohibit the use of ficticious names. But when you are doing business, there must be a legal source to trace with whom you are doing business. If it is a Corp or LLC there is limited liability which can be traced to an entity. With a "ficticious" name there must be a lead to the source. It gets complex in that you can adopt another name a live with it as long as it is not a part of a fraud.
