Title: Domain Name Theft Post by rrvrs on Mar 25th, 2007, 7:53pm Hi everyone, I'm new to the net, but I am getting angry at domain name theft. Here's my problem. I typed in a name in my address bar to see if a certain domain name would pop up. It came back that the browser could not find site. Then 2 days later the name is registered by capdom^com out of Miami, FL. Can anything be done about this type of stealing? |

Title: Re: Domain Name Theft Post by Dave_Zan on Mar 25th, 2007, 8:35pm Sorry to read what happened. But one reason why the answer is no is because they didn't steal what you don't own to begin with. It's understandable why you're angry because you're new here, as you said. If you look hard enough, you can see why it's got pros and cons and which people take their pick. But all is not lost: 1. Don't query the domain name on your browser or any WHOIS search service until you're ready to order it on the spot. 2. Don't contact the current registrant just yet. 3. Wait 120 hours (5 days) from its initial creation date. With luck, it'll be available again by then. Mark that day on your calendar. No excuses. |
