I submitted an application to sit for the exam; the return card said they received it on April 3rd. It is now May 16th and I have still heard nothing from them. I called the office and the analyst I was transferred to was extremely unhelpful and said "We don't give status updates." According to this board this is an extremely long delay. Any suggestions to get around this fellow and speak with someone who will actually give me some information?

7 weeks! I guess Category A (molecular biology) requires extensive review. I called again and they said that they were still processing the application.

It took a while for mine. Keep in mind, once they approve you they only give you three months to take it. I applied thinking I would be approved quickly and could take the exam in a certain time frame. My approval took forever, and when it finally did come it was at about the worst possible time. I had a big deadline for something else, and I couldn't even start studying until 6 weeks before the end of my three month deadline.

7+ weeks? Wow I submitted mine earlier this week and hope to take the exam early August. Can you think of any reason your application got flagged? Did you answer yes to any of the character questions? A friend of mine is Category A and had his approval back in 3 weeks. He submitted his about a month ago.
