: If a CD music recording is considered "intellectual Property" : what violations might there be if an "audio tape" copy : was made of a CD recording for personal use by the owner : of the CD for incidental use in one's car. : If music is not considered intellectual property, what : laws would cover making personal copies intended solely : for personal use. It is my belief that what you describe is copyright infringement. I further believe that making a download from a radio or TV is copyright infringement. VCR's do this every day. They are not illegal. The individual copier is too hard to trace and sue. Re selling the copies is open to the public and can be caught and is policed by many and there are even criminal prosecutions too. M.
