: I would like very much to devise a specialized cookbook for my company's patients. Would I be able to utilize some recipes on the web, without worry of violations/fines/law suits? I do know NOT to take anything from a web site clearly marked "registered trademark" or "copywrighted by law" - But how about all of the other sights? Is there a different denotation of copywright that I should be looking for? One that is not clearly visible?

: Thank you for you time and cooperation in answering my questions.
I won't take professional responsibility for this suggestion, there may be technical risk. What is on the web is registerable as a copyright. Recipies by their nature particularly if short may imply a right to a fair use. The authorship in the recipe may not be the proprietor of the web page. If you copy a wholeweb page of recipies or a recipe book you are in trouble. A mix if individual recipes from different sources is low risk. Any web page is registerable. If you refer to anything by a trademark name suggesting it is yours then that is trouble. If you refer to a trademark in context that is all right. Like, .. this is Jello...
