Dear Chris,
Do you want to make money or spend mone? If you publish yourself, then you should understand what to do. Otherwise if you can interest anyone in what you do they will usually take care of all that. You better know what you are signing before you sign.

Just getting a copyright registered, is usually a waste of time, money and worry. You also have to be careful not to infringe.
