Do they get rights to things not written specifically for them?[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Copyright Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by Sheila on November 17, 1999 at 09:44:57: I am interested in article writing for a company. Their contract states basically that any works of authorship resulting from my services during the Consulting Period and any works in progress, shall be works-made-for-hire and the company shall be deemed the sole owner>> BUT the next section says ... if any of the writing is not legally a work-for-hire then I hereby irrevocably assign and agree to assign any and all of my rights, title and interest thereto. How does this affect the novel I have been writing in my spare time? Do they get ownership?
