Incorportion of Copyrighted Materials into Law[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Copyright Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by Robert on September 13, 2002 at 01:51:10: Our not-for-profit professional association has established voluntary standatrds of professoinal care for medical professionals for over 50 years. These standards have been distributed in copyright-protected publications. A state is considering publishing the 21st edition of our standards as public law. At least one state official is claiming that if they do so, these standrds will then be in public domain and we will no longer enjoy the protections of copyright. By my reading of USC Title 17, Chapter 2, Section 201 (e), no government agency can involuntarily strip us of our ownership of copyright for these publications. Am I correct in this assumption?
