: : : How does one copyright or patent a name? : : : Is one way better than another? : : : How much does it cost? Dear Sadiki Dhatnubia, Names can be registered as trademarks or service marks, in the classes of their use. The Goverment fee is $325 per class. It would be advisable to have search as to the availability of the mark in the classes of use. Price is not the issue. What do you have, how do you want to use it, and is the lawyer you use and intellectual property lawyer you can trust? Different lawyers may charge different fees. Trademarks are forever. You might save on the price and find you are in trouble YEARS down the line when it really costs. Trademarks can be basically inexpensive to register. Note our service marks. M.
