The patent is a matter of public knowledge and they may also be able to find a way around it. The one of the very best patents in terms of quality and strength that I ever got was turned down by the industry leader. They were reluctant to listen but since the patent was ready to issue they looked. They not only turned it down but within three years they won a multi, multimillion industrial prize for producing a non infringing commercial version that was not as good as the disclosed invention. Now I have patented thinkgs which everyone in the country has used or been effected by including you. The inventor worked for a private company and I think also got stock in the company. M.
