: : : : If I were to buy a book or cd retail and then put it in a package with other items for resale would I need permission to do so ?? Would I be breaking any laws by doing so without permission ?

: : : Dear Damarys,
: : : Without taking professional responsibility, the only exposure I can think of is sales tax.

: : Thank you for your response !
: : So as long as I don't claim the work as my own, the only issue that you could foresee as a problem would be sales tax ??

: Dear Damarys,

: As I understand what you say you want to sell an object that you have. If you don't copy, I don't think there is a problem.

Let me clarify a little.....If I put together gift baskets and need a book on a specific topic or a cd with a certain song on it to carry out the tehme of the basket, and I run to the local book store or music store and buy one retail and then put it in a gift basket to be sold would that pose a problem? Example...a customer calls and says "my friends just had to put their dog to sleep...they had the dog since it was a puppy and it was very hard on them. Can you put together a basket for them?" I run to the local bookstore and by a copy of a book on grieving the death of a pet and put it in the basket and ship it off will I get in trouble for buying the book and putting it in the basket and reselling it ??

Thank you for your help in figuring this out....
