So long as the author is the same, an author can sing lyrics to multiple songs on a single tape and file one perofrming arts application, and pay a single fee, for all of the songs on the tape as well as the sound recording. Of couse, this assumes the author has also authored the melody to the songs as well as the lyrics.
Under some circumstances, it might also be possible to register multiple literary works as a collective work.
