Copywrite of no longer produced videos[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Copyright Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by Andrea on June 06, 2002 at 15:11:35: It's a bit complicated, but I'm wondering the about the legal issues concerning videos that are no longer produced. The situation: Company x discontinued production of the video, some of the material is out of date, while other segments are still in valid. Is it legal to condense the video? (extracting the parts no longer valid, while maintaining the credits, etc. of the original producers?) In my view, it's like fast-forwarding through the parts you don't want to see. The end result would not be resold, but instead used in a classroom. What's your view? thanks.
