: I have looked into trademarks and now understand that I can use that to protect my works. Now I have another question....when I checked on them, I found the site and it says $325 to register it..and then some words (which confused me) about using the trademark before registering it. So ,does that mean that I can go ahead and use the trademark on the back of the cards, and then register it later????????

: : : I am in the process of starting a greeting card line. I already know about copyrighting the words/poems. My question is.....can I copyright an entire collection of greeting card graphics, or do I have to copyright each graphic I will be using?

Dear Paladinsangel,

I won't take professional responsibility, for a likely yes. You know, if you used an IP lawyer you could trust, it might be work protecting the investment in the filing fee.

There a lot more than just filing. Trademarks nonetheless are really not expensive. Even if you do it right as far as the legal mechanics are concerned, You would hate to have a sucessful business and find after the fact that a mark is flawed.

My belief is that good lawyers are to clients as women are to men. You can't live with them but you can't live without them.
