: : With respect to published scientific articles, are the findings, concepts, and novel terminology protected by copywrite law or are they in the public domain? : : : : Dear Mr. Navarro, : With out patent, published conecpts are not protected, the author's mode of expression is protectable. : M. Two follow-ups if you don't mind. First, is there an online source for patent information relating to scientific material? Second, I've had a hard time finding information on mode of expression. Does that refer strictly to the actual text of the published piece, or does it extend to the "gist" of the phrasing. For example if someone published the statemnt "phenomenon X accounts for processes Y and Z. Can you then say "Processes Y and Z are related to phenomenon X" Thanks again.
