: I believe the law in Canada is very close to the US law and the world law. It is my belief that the copying for personal use is an infringement. If the copy is not sold, distributed or given aweay then the copyright proprietor may never become aware of the infringment. : M. Arthur Auslander : Auslander & Thomas-Intellectual Property Law Since 1909 Dear Arthur, You are wrong about this. Since an amendment of the copyright act in 1998, it has been legal for Canadians to make copies of purchased music for personal use. A levy on recording media is in place to compensate the recording industry for loss of revenues. My understanding is that this is also true for many countries in the European union. Pete
