Do moderate digital changes to an illustration constitute infringement?[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Copyright Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by Grabby Graphic Designer? on March 13, 2002 at 08:34:34: Let's say I am a graphic designer working for a non-profit community center. For my employer, I commission an illustrator to create a cartoon image of a knight on the back of a buffalo, to incorporate into a logo going onto the uniforms and office letterheads for a non-profit little league football team. After receiving the artist's work, I photographed the image on my scanner and made the following changes using Adobe Photoshop: -- deleted the light orange and black polka dot shading on the knight's cape (about 1/3 the size of the illustration) and filled with a solid, darker orange After making these changes, would I get the copywright, or would the illustrator? Please email response.
