: We have an idea that could save numerous lives every year. We were wondering what we have to do to copywright our idea. Please give us any information that would help us. Thanks, Linda & Gary Idea are not protectable, except as maintained as trade secrets. It is possible that what you have may be patentable. The idea should not be revealed without proper protection. It is risky in the U.S. to "divulge or use" before a patent application has been filed. It is fatal in most of the rest of the world. You can be protected by confidentiality. Without being a doom sayer not every good idea is patentable or able to get the broad protection that the inventor would desire. M.
