How do I know if it is copyrighted and what exactly does a recipe copyright prevent you from doing? : Also, I do not know what IP protection is. Could you please clarify? Thanks! Dear Missy, The content of a recipe is usually not protected unless there is a patent involved. The written recipe, if under copyright is usually protected against copying its written experession. IP means Intellectual Property, which usually includes patents, trademarks, copyrights and the law of unfair competition. M. Arthur Auslander Auslander & Thomas-Intellectual Property Law Since 1909
