: After reading thru this forum, I have questions regarding the copyright registration. I believe that in order to register my personal work for copyright, I can do the followings:
: a. Register to U.S Copyright Office in Washington.
: -Term: good for life plus 70 years.
: b. Send a copy of the work to my self as proof of
: authorship (poorman's copyright)
: -Term:???

: Questions:
: -Does poorman's copyright have the same advantages as registering to U.S Copyright office?
: -What is the term for poorman's copyright?
: -Are there any other ways I can do to register besides the two approach above?

: Thanks!

Dear Franky,
The "poorman's copyright", as I understand it, is an attempt at providing evidentiary proof of authorship in a work without going through the Official steps of Registering a Copyright. I believe that there are risks in trying something like that particuarly considering the simplicity of getting a legitimate Copyright Registration.

A focus on copyright seem stange. A publisher usually take care of the Copyright Registration. The hard part is to find the Publisher and then the legal part is to get an agreement that protects you.
