video sample

I would like to sample (2-3 seconds) of video (no actors, but of generic shots of, for example, a finger pushing a button), for synchronization to original music for performance only. The video clip not only would be isolated from its' original context, but also modified with digital effects and layered upon other original works. I believe that the clip would be so modified that it falls outside of copyright, but as I did not create the original with which it is based upon, I may be wrong...What is your opinion?
