: I HAVE INVENTED A YARD GAME. DO I NEED A COPYWRIGHT FOR THIS. AND HOW DO I GO ABOUT FINDING OUT IF THERE IS AN EXISTING GAME OF THIS NATURE. More facts must be had to evaluate what you have and what can be done with it. The details should not be on the web. A copyright protects a mode of expression. The game Monopoly must have been protected by a copyright and a trademark on the name. Some games are patentable. The right to a patent on a game may even be expanded under a recent Supreme Court decision. If you divulge or use an invention before a patant application is filed all vaild patent rights are lost in most other countries of the world. M.
