: How would copywrite come into play when dealing with a collectors reference forum where one person would post a question and there might be several responses? Would the website that owns the forum own the copywrite on the answers? Dear David, There would be no freedom of speach if all used words were protected by copyright. If copyright is involved the author is the owner. The website owner might own the content of the site even if the words were from others. One has to differentiate between ideas and mode of expression. Patents may be more appropriate when an idea is in tangible form and is new useful and unobvious. M.
